It’s my first time to hear that a journalist or publisher here in Southern Leyte has been attacked.

According to the police, at past 3:00am this Thursday, December 11, 2008, unidentified gunmen fired two shots at the house of Mr. Tony Reyes, hitting the glass door and into the room just below room where Mr. Reyes stayed. Mr. Reyes’ house served as his home and at the same time the office of the Southern Leyte Times.

Neighbors said that they heard a motorcycle, stopped in front of the house before firing.

Mr. Tony Reyes is the publisher of the weekly newspaper,? Southern Leyte Times.
