I am very thankful that you have given time and space the big news of declaring our province So. Leyte as Filariasis free, the first to be declared as such nationwide. With due respect to Dr. Jose Lito Trumata, PHO 2 , my position is PHO 1 and I am the one in - charge of field health services. The success in the campaign for the mass treatment against this parasitic disease and the health education that go with it can be credited to all the city health officers and the municipal health officers in the entire province of course with the supprt of the Department of Health, DepED, local chief executives and the rest of the health workers in the city and rural health units. The IPHO Technical office is now in the process of planning a big bang celebration regarding this big achievement on disease - free zone initiative by the last week of February and hopefully Sec. Duque of DOH and other dignitaries from DOH Central and Regional Offices and The World Health Organization will be coming over for a press conference and to attend the inaugural program.
