DPWH Southern Leyte To Repair Sogod-Liloan Section of Maharlika Highway

Bong Pedalino of the Philippine Information Agency reported that the Department of Public Works and Highways – Southern Leyte Engineering District or DPWH-SLED is planning to repair the Sogod-Liloan section of the Maharlika Highway.
The District Engr. Carlos Veloso told the PIA that PhP149 Million has been allocated by the department for the rehabilitation of the said section of the Highway and he will be going to the DPWH Regional Office and will try to press the office for the concreting of the road instead of just asphalting it.

Southern Leyte Governer Damian G. Mercado signed the Local Government Unit Executive Proclamation 1 Series of 2011 declaring February 27 as the Ruperto K. Kangleon Memorial Day in order to commemorate the late Col. Ruperto K. Kangleon as a respected war hero who brought honor to Southern Leyteños and the first Senator and Secretary of the National Defense who came from Southern Leyte.

Maasin City, Southern Leyte – The Maasin Water District, with the technical assistance of Rio de Verde from Cagayan de Oro City, is set to develop the bulokbulok spring in Brgy. GUV Signs PENRMO-GTZ MOA Establishing The SL Mangrove Greenbelt Project

Maasin City, Southern Leyte – The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Management Office (PENRMO) and GTZ (in literal English equivalent : German technical Assistance/Cooperation) has jointly formulated a Memorandum of Agreement for a project dubbed as Southern Leyte Mangrove Greenbelt Project with a funding of P1.5M. The 7-day Eastern Visayas Regional Athletics Association (EVRAA) meet hosted recently by Tacloban City (March 28 up to April 3, 2009), though there are faucets in all of the elementary and secondary school buildings where the 13 delegations from the entire region 8(Leyte and Samar) were billeted, have no water supply and the Leyte Sports Complex is allegedly a slippery venue for sports competitions.
